It’s an interesting mechanic that opens the door for wackiness like a Nazi invasion by the "The Fuhrer" in Sumaru City. Visit the Kuzunoha Detective Agency and for a small fee you can spread rumors and change the game world. You may hear things that alter the quality of goods you find in shops or even trigger events. First, you have to find rumors by talking to rumormongers in town. Rumors are real in Persona 2: Innocent Sin and you can use this fact to your advantage. He knows and resents them… Philemon (remember him from Persona 1?) bestows personas to Tatsuya and Lisa (Eikichi could already control one believing it to be a death spirit) and the group run to Seven Sisters High where the school’s emblem is rumored to be cursed. The Joker also has a strange connection to Lisa, Tatsuya, and Eikichi. He wipes the ideals from Eikichi’s henchmen leaving only shadows behind. Lisa and three of Eikichi’s subordinates (he’s a gang boss at rival school Cuss High) call themselves, but the Joker isn’t as friendly as they hoped. Rumor has it if you call your own cell phone the Joker will appear and grant you a wish. The story begins with manly Tatsuya, Lisa "Ginko" Silverman, and the flamboyant Eikichi summoning the Joker. Atlus made an attempt to modernize the PsOne game by giving the town a facelift and adding cut-ins for fusion attacks.Īside from cosmetic changes, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2: Innocent Sin is the same game from 1999 – now in English. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2: Innocent Sin lies somewhere in the middle with isometric dungeons, but still has a classic MegaTen staple – demon negotiation. #P2 sumaru city seriesCredits for the images go to Atlus and Famitsu. The Persona series evolved from a straight first person dungeon crawler to a high school dating simulation starting with Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3. After the jump, I have some images!įamitsu managed to get a hold of some screenshots, which can be found below this post. I might post up a review of the PS1 version when I get some time, since it is a worthwhile play. Personally, I actually have a copy of the PS1 version of Persona 2: IS with the fan translations on it (This game actually merited a fan translation of the games entirety) and honestly, I enjoyed it significantly more than Persona 1, however it was good to see the cross-overs, just like Persona 3 did with the characters of this game. Therefore this allows for quite a unique persona experience unlike any of the other series. One day, Tatsuya and his friends realize that the city has been cursed, and that any rumour that is started, can come true no matter how impossible it is. The storyline basically goes that an individual known by the name JOKER has been causing a lot of murderous incidents around Sumaru City and is summoned by someone dialing their own phone number into their mobile phone. Whilst Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (Which was basically Persona 2b) was released fine, there were a few supposed issues with the content of Innocent Sin which meant it would not be distributed (These issues could be classed as minor spoilers so I won’t be posting them here). However, if this does make it to english shores, this would be the first time that Innocent Sin has been distributed in English. #P2 sumaru city pspThis is going the same route as Persona PSP did by taking the original PS1 games, remaking them to be more suitable for the PSP and the quality that is expected of the console, and then adding new music, translations et cetera. #P2 sumaru city portableNew Opening Theme is titled “unbreakable tie” and sung by Lotus Juice and Asami Izawa – Rather nice song!įor my final post this evening, I would like to make note of something I am most excited about, the announcement of Persona 2: Innocent Sin Portable on the PlayStation Portable console.
